Booking the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Condo on Front in Downtown Beaufort, NC has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
