Booking the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Bright, cheery, well appointed 3BR, 3.5B Townhome has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
