Our top Emerald Isle rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Breezin' Blue, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
