Strategies to get the optimal New Bern rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect New Bern rental:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanside/Pet Friendly Condo-Boardwalk Shores D has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
