Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful Ocean & Sound Views! Luxury Vacation with In Ground Private Pool! has 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
