How to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Getting the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To find the largest rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick the best New Bern rental:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful Ocean & Sound Views! Luxury Vacation with In Ground Private Pool! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
