Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3rd row home with PRIVATE POOL AND TIKI BAR has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
