How to book the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. To get the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best rental in Atlantic Beach:
- First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 2nd-Floor Condo in Oceanfront Location w\/Shared Pool, Balcony, Free WiFi has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
