Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 1st-floor pool-view condo with outdoor pool, beach access, balcony, W/D, & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
