Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Walkable to Downtown! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
