Sands Villas Resort is a peaceful gated resort located on the east end of the island, about a mile from the Morehead City Bridge/Causeway. Located high on the island, this condo has vistas of water on both sides-the ocean and the sound. This condo is Ocean front. The resort has a private walkway through the dunes to the wide white sandy beach. This is a public beach with no lifeguard but the police patrol somewhat regularly. As a resort guest, during your stay you may appreciate the indoor and outdoor pool, hottub, sauna, exercise room, tennis/pickle ball court, playground, basketball goal and ample parking for two cars and a boat,
For your safety, this condo is part of a private gated community, so please display your parking tag when parking in the resort and bring your amenities tag with you when you are appreciating the pool, gym, ball courts, or grilles. (This helps security identify you as an invited guest.) *To avoid a penalty fee, please make you return all parking and conveniences tags back to the kitchen counter before checking out. (Thank you)
There are walking/bicycle paths that take you to Fort Macon. This condo is also less than a mile to Fort Macon, the Oceanana Pier, Amos Mosquitos, Island Grille, and The Circle /Causeway Bridge. Therefore, this condo is a relatively short walk to most things. You can decide to travel by road, sand, or sidewalks, depending on the adventure you choose.
While there are a lot of things to do at Atlantic Beach, NC, further down the island, you will find a Food Lion, the Aquarium, town parks, library, mini golf, bumper boats, bowling, arcades, waterslides, stores, eateries, movies, and more. (Emerald Isle is the most western beach on the island.)
Back across the bridge to Morehead City (Hwy 70) you will find more grocery stores, the regional hospital, chain stores and eateries. Downtown Morehead is a great place to find good seafood and watch the big fish come in to be weighed. (This is the home of the Big Rock Fishing Tournament held every June, and the Annual Seafood Festival held every October)
Then a little further east over the next bridge, is Beaufort-a cozy historic sailing town where you will find the Smith Field Airport, county courthouse, historic homes, exotic yachts, museums, cute stores and even more great eateries.

Rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightvacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. ROCKING VIEW OF OCEAN & A PALM TREED POOL-Tennis, Gym, jacuzzi & 2nd Pool indoor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
