Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your group select vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. RARE \"DOUBLE UNIT\" BEAUTIFUL Deluxe Studio Condo just steps to the ocean! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
