Finding the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer time is high season in Atlantic Beach. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Chateau Relaxo- Remodeled Pool View Condo with Direct Beach and Sound Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
