Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the best New Bern rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Chateau Relaxo- Remodeled Pool View Condo with Direct Beach and Sound Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
