Our top Rental home booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- To get the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group select the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. PEACE AND QUIET.. residential has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
