Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking your prefect New Bern vacation home:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. PEACE AND QUIET.. residential has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
