Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. King Junior-Unit 114 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Have a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
