Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:
- First, have your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Sound Front Home with Dock (Downeast Retreat) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
