Our top Atlantic Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking your New Bern vacation home:
- First, have your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Mama's Cottage: 6 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Oceanview House has 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
