Tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Start by having your family decide on dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beach Combers - Almost Oceanfront 3BR 3BA - downtown Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
