Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Adorable Cottage on the Canal with Boat Lift has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
