Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Beaufort rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To find the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Mermaid Cottage in Beau Coast Neighborhood Beaufort, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
