One of Morehead City’s newest amenities for its ongoing mariner visitors is the installation of the Morehead City Docks, which are found in the heart of the downtown area along Arendell Street. An easy stop for mariners who are heading along the East Coast on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), the docks are found in a deep-water and sheltered basin with 8-10’ ft. minimum depths and easy access to both the ICW and the neighboring Beaufort Inlet.
Mariners will want to look for mile marker 205 as an indicator of where to turn, and once within the “city limits,” will find 10 slips that can accommodate vessels that are 26’ – 50’ ft. long, with widths up to 24’ feet. The floating docks make it easy for mariners to step on and off their vessel regardless of the tide, and electric hook-ups and water are also available on-site. Once ashore, mariners will have an easy time exploring the city, as they’ll be just steps away from local shops, restaurants, attractions, banks and the town’s post office, as well as a sea full of acclaimed downtown restaurants. A great spot for mariners to relax, take a break, and explore the charming Crystal Coast, the Morehead City Docks serve as a fine introduction to this coastal community.
