Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best rental in Emerald Isle:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Patty's Beach House, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
