Booking the best rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in Atlantic Beach. Book your New Bern vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Lovely Condo in Direct Oceanfront Complex w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, Water Views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
