Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the best rental home in Atlantic Beach:

  • First, have your family decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths on sound and walking distance to beach and shops has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
