Getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Booking your New Bern vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Townhome with 2 bedrooms plus loft sleeping area, perfect for your next vacation has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
