Strategies for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. "Self Sea-esta" Beautiful Cottage 2nd row to ocean in Emerald Isle has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
