Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your New Bern vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking your prefectrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Chateau Relaxo Duex- Remodeled Pool View Condo with Direct Beach & Sound Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
