Tips to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, change your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking the bestvacation home:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. PET FRIENDLY DUPLEX WITH LIFTAVATOR! BOAT SLIP FOR EASY BOATING has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
