Rental property booking tips:

Get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. OCEAN & SOUND VIEWS - Beach Access Right Out Front!! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
