How to get the best deal on your rental

  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses provide New Bern area promotional magazines which include coupons, either offered individually by local companies, or via a partnership between the property manager and the merchant itself. These guides provide a good start to your vacation rental search.
  • Desire to stay away from the crowds of people? The off-peak shoulder seasons frequently offer phenomenal rates on daily rentals.
  • Are you a armed forces veteran? A number of management companies offer discounts to veterans and active-duty military. Make sure to confirm with property management company to see if your visiting crew is eligible for a rate reduction.
  • Some properties are particularly suited for specific types of vacationers. Event homes are perfect for weddings, receptions and corporate meetings. Some homes cater to beach bums. Other rentals are situated close to nightlife. Be sure to prioritize your proximity to the adventures and tours you are most interested in.
  • Rental companies and individual rental home owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually add anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base vacation rental price, provides buyers reimbursement of their trip costs for any days missed as a consequence of medical emergencies or hurricanes, and additionally ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel room stay or additional gas.

The Rental Process

You might be pleasantly surprised to discover how many properties are available at your destination. With such a big selection, clients are certain to select a rental that meets their wishes and spending plan.

Nearly all vacation homes in New Bern are privately operated and many are represented by established local property management companies. Property management companies are popular with rental owners mainly because they coordinate the online marketing and operations..

We have put together a short guide to assist you in getting most out of your rental experience.

Where to find and book the best rental home:

Before you book "Newly Renovated Oceanfront Home with Private Beach Access in Emerald Isle", read through our brief checklist of considerations.

Start Your Search Early

New Bern rentals book several months (and up to a year) in advance. To guarantee the best choice of rental homes, we recommend searching and booking your New Bern vacation home Six-Twelve months before your travel dates, whenever feasible. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental home..

Find your Spot and Identify Dates

Start by determining which particular area of New Bern you'd like to browse, and the determine trip dates.

Select a Size

Keep a list of attendees. How many beds and bedrooms will you be needing? Remember that most properties advertise maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in the living area. You will need to determine what is most appropriate for your group. Precise descriptions of bedrooms and beds are usually available on the internet. If not, email or call the property manager before you book.

Establish Your Budget

Make sure "Newly Renovated Oceanfront Home with Private Beach Access in Emerald Isle" satisfies your price range *during your desired week*. If several groups or family members are sharing the cost, make sure everyone understands their responsibility and has agreed to a maximum they are prepared to chip in. Usually, one member of the group will be in charge of making the complete reservation and recovering each person's contribution.

Rental Home Features

What property features is the family searching for? Do you want a rental home with patio dining area? Will the property need to be oceanfront, in the downtown area, or close to wildlife? Are items like beach chairs, grills, umbrellas, beach carts or coolers at your disposal and included with your rental fee? Build a list of priority features to guide narrow your search.

Accessibility and Special Issues to consider

Commonly the elder generation has trouble with stairs. Be sure to remember and inquire about wheelchair entry, pool lifts and special equipment requirements..

Your Dog Deserves a Holiday, Too

Don't forget to include your best friend! Animals are welcome at a number of rentals, but guidelines can vary. Ensure that you study agreements and contracts carefully. Extra fees may apply when animals are added. When in doubt, ask the property owner and get it in writing.

Where to Search

Once the area, time and attendees are decided, search multiple resources for the very best vacation rental selection. Besides Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we recommend searching Google for "New Bern local vacation rentals" for local rental management companies. Local agencies often have a unique collection of rental properties daily and weekly.

Negotiate the Price

Re-read the description to make sure the property has everything required. If something is missing, the rental management company may know of comparable properties that better suit your style and budget..

Although not true for all properties, many owners and property managers will make a deal on rates. If the rate isn't negotiable, the number of nights may be. Off-peak weeks will probably be negotiable more frequently than peak-season..

Read Through The Contract

You will have to know which services are included:

  • Electric bills
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Phone service
  • Pool and hot tub heating
  • Cable and pay-per-view TV
  • Cleaning Fees
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance policies
  • Key exchange
  • Parking Space

Make sure your quoted fee includes all taxes and fees.

Do you know the Cancellation Policy?

Ensure that you understand the cancellation policy prior to booking. Many rental property agreements include an option for trip insurance. Trip insurance protects the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It offers comfort should catastrophe strike.

Reserve It

When you think you've identified "the one", begin the booking process. Remember that most rental contracts require a considerable rental deposit and/or security deposit to safeguard the vacation rental owner.

Keep Your Property Manager's Information

Don't forget to get the property manager's contact phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the contact's information in your phone and wallet.

Congratulations on reserving your vacation rental! You're on the way to a phenomenal vacation!

During your Stay

  • Take pictures at your arrival. Take notes of any property damage immediately after you arrive. If you discover property damage, or if repairs are required get in touch with the rental manager straight away. This can protect against disputes during check out.
  • Ask questions. You may need guidance for a gas fireplace, Television set or hot tub. Contact your rental manager. They are there to help. A phone call can save several hours of hassle.
  • Be considerate of the local community. Many times, neighboring properties are lived in by permanent locals. Respecting late-night quiet hours and vehicle parking rules can make a visit a lot more relaxing.
  • Ask a local. Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best pizza, have a great date night, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Enjoy your stay! Make sure that you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the property locked up when you are away, just like you would in your own home.

At the end of your stay

  • Make certain you've packed everything. Check drawers, bath cabinets and closets.
  • Be sure to walk through the rental one final time and check for damages. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (this isn't always the case).. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you enjoy your rental? Most rental management company sites request testimonials after your stay . Owners and property managers will appreciate your glowing critiques. If anything went wrong, we recommend being understanding but honest with regards to experience. Top owners and managers will try very hard to correct the situation.

Learn and Improve

Hold a vacation recap meeting with your traveling companions. Does everybody want to go back? If everything was fantastic, next year's vacation planning will be painless. If not, you've gained useful rental search experience to aid with another search.
