How to book the best vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect New Bern vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Charming Upscale Bungalow - Beaufort Historic District - 129 Craven Street has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
