Our top New Bern vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • To get the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the best rental:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. OCEANFRONT COMPLEX WITH POOLS & EASY BEACH ACCESS. UPDATED CONDO has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
