Emerald Isle rental home tips:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful private beach house with access to sound has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular New Bern beach you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
