Our top New Bern rental home tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful House Steps from the Beach. 403 E. Atlantic Blvd has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
