Booking the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful 2 bedroom unit at resort, sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
