Tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- First, have your family agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beachcomber and Sunset Seeker Paradise in the HEART of Atlantic Beach. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
