Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Pet Friendly 3-bedroom Oceanside Townhome-Beach, Please has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
