Tricks and tips for getting the best New Bern vacation property experience:

When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Canal-Front Condo with 5' Deep Water Boat Slip, AC, W\/D & Walkable Location has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
